What is Luz?
Luz was the earlier name of the city Jacob called Bethel, where God Almighty appeared to him and blessed him (Genesis 28:19, Genesis 48:3). It also marked a boundary point on the borders of Joseph and Benjamin (Joshua 16:2, Joshua 18:13). A second Luz was later built in the land of the Hittites by the man who had shown Joseph's house the entrance to the first city (Judges 1:26).
